| I have read an old review of HQ II that user replaced the telescoping poles that were too flimsy with solid aluminum tubing. Does anyone know where to purchase such? Also any ideas to replace the "webbing" to pin in place and give side tension on quilt. Many thanks!! |

| I just looked at a HQ II tonight because I'm having the sagging problem with my original HQ frame and I sure don't see how the poles on the HQ II could be sagging. I'm trying to figure out how to strengthen the poles on my original HQ frame so I can use it because I really can't afford to buy another frame :-z |

I replaced all three poles with electrical conduit. I took the narrowest telescoping pole with me to make sure I got a size that would slip over without to much slack. My husband ran a machine screw and acorn nut thru each pole so you dont loose your tension. He also enlarged the holes at the other end as the conduit was sightly larger than the telescoping pole. The poles that have the rachet attached to them, I just slipped the full length inside the conduit, leaving the tension button intact. This helps make the whole thing very sturdy. My older Handiquilter I is now 10 feet in length..no sagging. I also use large chip clips with 3/4 inch elastic thraded thru a hole in the handle. I then threaded on a bunch of large washers for weight. The elastic gets draped over the "arm" at each end of the Handiquilter frame and dangles over the edge of the table for tension. |
