Whenever I used the prewound bobbins, the tension would really get loose when the thread reached about the last 1/8 on the bobbin. Thinking it was the prewound bobbins, I switched to winding my own bobbins but now the same problem is showing up. Now I have to keep and eye on the bobbin and change it whenever it starts to reach this 1/8. This is wasting a lot of thread! Has anyone else had this problem?
I have had this same problem not only with the HQ but with my domestic as well. I use MAGIC BOBBIN GENIE and that seems to help me alot. I don't get any backlash now either. They are teflon washers you put into the bobbin case. Put a very small drop of oil in the case then put in the bobbin genie. Hope this helps
I have one of the Bobbin Genie's on my machine already - thinking that this was the problem. I'm talking some classes using the HQ16 next Saturday and hopefully the instructor can tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for the advice though.
Please let us know what you find out at your class. Thanks!
I am working on a quilt today using cookie cutters for templates and connecting with loops. I am noticing that as I begin or end, my stitches are not consistent (larger/smaller). Have any of you experienced this phenomenon? Also, do any of you have to change your bobbin tension as the bobbin as less thread? I use bottom line prewound bobbins and I am finding that when I begin and set my tension with a new bobbin, the tension is great but as the bobbin has less thread, I see more pokies on the backside (the bobbin is becoming too tight for some reason), I loosen it a bit, and then it is back to looking fine on the back and the front. Anybody else have this situation and how do you rectify it? Thanks, Marion in Texas
