Baptist Fan Groovy Board

I got two sections of the Baptist Fan Groovy Board. Beneath the "fans" is a curved outline across the entire bottom. Does anyone know if we are supposed to stitch this line, or is this simply for alignment when the quilt is advanced. Thanks!

I just finished a quilt with the baptist fan boards and I did stitch in the curved outline and it came out beautiful
