I would like to hear from folks about their preferences in batting and why. I just used a hobbs 90/20 that every so often a pokey of batting showed up in the stitch pattern on the back...I have used that kind before and never had a problem. I love the dream battings but the last time I used the dream cotton I thought there was a lot of streach to it. Love to hear your ideas and preferences.
Thanks
ChaZ
For cotton batting I use Hobbs 80/20 cotton blend. I like the loft of Hobbs. For polyester batting I use Mountain Mist. It doesn't seem to shift as much as other brands. For dark batting I use Hobbs.

Whenever I have gotten bearding on the front or back of the quilt, I switch to one size smaller needle and this usually takes care of the problem. You may also want to switch your thread to a smaller thread as the dragging of the thread may be causing the bearding.

I have used the QUILTER'S DREAM battings for my "special quilts" and have never had a problem with any of them. If you had one that was "stretchy" you can firm it up in your dryer. Just give it a light spray of water and put it in your dryer on medium and that should firm it right up. Ihave had that happen with a package of Hobbs.

I have used Warm and Natural but feel it's a bit too flat for a quilt. Works well in wall hangings and table runners. When using it for that I always pre-shrink the batting.
Thanks Crashnquilt that is good information. I see my post and meant 80/20 not 90/20.
