I have a problem with the thread slipping out of the slot on the bobbin case while quilting. This causes loops on the top side of the quilt. It seems to happen when I replace the bobbin and start up quilting again. Is it possible I'm filling the bobbin too full? I've checked the tension and I've checked for lint inside the bobbin case.
this may sound crazy, but have you oiled your machine recently? my rep assures me that my bobbin case is just fine, but i feel like it has more "slack" than my other machines - and with that comes more movement and friction. it seems like my hq needs to be oiled more frequently than my other machines. and it's possible that this has something to do with the larger bobbin size, i'm not an engineer. but in any event, i've had the same slipping that you describe a couple of times, and it seems to have gone away since i've started paying more attention to my oiling schedule.

good luck.
The dealer suggested I oil the machine each time I change the bobbin and also clear any lint/fuzz inside of there, which I've done. I noticed that sometimes the bobbins don't wind evenly (I try not to go too fast) and am thinking that might have been some of the problem along with maybe filling them too much. I've been more careful with the bobbin winding and checking the tension more often and haven't had a problem with the last couple quilts I've done.

Thanks
All HQ's should have a drop of oil and a quick brush swipe for lint with every bobbin change. This is all this machine requires. I follow the oiling recommendations to a T!

If your bobbin is not winding smoothly and evenly, there is an adjustment on the bobbin winder. Adjust this until your bobbin winds smoothly. An unsmooth bobbin does not sew well on any longarmed machine. It's difficult to get good and correct tension and keep the thread flowing evenly. So, don't be afriad to adjust your bobbin winder. Once adjusted, you won't have to touch this again. Also, please note that every week or two you need to put one drop of oil into the bobbin winder to keep it running smoothly.

If your thread is still slipping out, call the helpdesk. They will be able to walk you through the adjustments on it.

I just finished two more quilts since I had the problem with the thread slipping out of the bobbin case and had no problem at all. I think it may have been that the bobbins were uneven and I also noticed the tension was a bit loose. I didn't realize you could adjust the winder. I'm going to check that out and where should I oil the winder?
Thanks for the info.
this has just started happening to me also, not all the time though. Today I began to wonder if its the cone of thread I've been using. I've switched thread over the last couple of weeks, and since its happening intermittently it occurred to me it may be that particular thread, so I'm going to pay closer attention. I did call me dealer about this, he said the spring in the bobbin casing could be loose, (I have dropped it on the concrete floor a couple of times!) I will also oil my bobbin winder and see if that helps.
