cleaning tension disk

What is the best way to clean tension disk and spring? What does HQ recommend? I use a mini vac attachment for the bobbin area; would it work for the top tension assembly as well?

I use dental tape to clean my tension disks. I take a long piece of UNWAXED DENTAL TAPE and tie a knot every 6 inches or so. I loosen the tension disks, wrap this tape around my tension disks and "floss" it back and forth. You'll be surprised at how much gunk this will clean off.
