cleaning tension disks

How do I clean the lint, etc. from my tension disks on the top tension dial?

You can loosen the tension knob so that the discs are separated. Use a soft brush to clean in between the discs. This should get the lint out.

| I use unwaxed dental TAPE, not floss, take a long piece about 30 inches or so and tie knots in it. I wrap this into the tension disks and "floss" it back and forth. This will get out all kinds of "gunk" |

i've used pipe cleaners. i think i read that tip in libby lehman's book, although i wouldn't swear to it. i found extra beefy ones at michael's. a package will last you for years.
