| First I mark the lines, load the quilt and use a ruler to get straight lines. Most of the time I will use my stitch regulator because I have to slow down or stop when I get to the end of the ruler. |

Good suggestion. The other thing that I would add to that is to use a ruler that is managable. A ruler that is a 3x12 is harder to keep control of then one that is 2x6. It is easier to grip a smaller ruler in your hand.
