| Is anyone using the after-market Edgerider wheels for their HQ16? If so, what has been your experience? Thanks. |

| Donna, I think after market means something that comes out for it after you've bought it, such as upgrades. |

| Makes sense - after market, but how do you find out about them? The Handiquilter web site doesn't offer much. Most of you ladies are "up" on all this stuff and I feel like I'm living in a cave somewhere without a clue as to what is going on in the world. I love this forum because it is keeping me informed. |

| Hi Donna--I found out about these by research on the internet. I'm the queen of Google! Anyway, Edgerider has a website (www.edgeriderwheels.com). I was curious as to anyone's experience with them on the HQ16. |

Hi Joan, I just checked the Edgerider web site and read that they were currently working on wheels for the HQ16 so I guess we have to wait a while before we can try them. It sounds like a good concept. The heavy plastic would be cleaner. |

What is the problem with the wheels...I'm pretty new to this and don't have a clue. Lisa |

Hi Lisa, These edgerider wheels are made of hard plastic. The wheels that came with the HQ16 and the ones that are advertised in the products column are made of metal and leave a carbon residue on the rails. The carbon doesn't hurt anything, it just makes the rails black. I've been reading things about the edgerider wheels and it seems that they can go flat if the machine sits for a while ummmmm that doesn't sound to good. |

| Do you know how long would it have to sit unmoved for them to go flat? I haven't heard anyone say theres have gone flat yet, but maybe most of us use ours enough so we won;'t have that problem..?? I sure hope they don't go flat. |

Hi Petsitr2, I can't find where I read that the wheels go flat. Will keep looking for the site and let you know where it is. It probably would have to sit for a long time to have the wheels go flat. I use my machine every day or every other day so I don't feel I'd have a problem but I will continue to look for that site. |

Ok, I found it. I went to Google. Here's the information. After I read the whole thing, I don't think there is a problem. Q: I did read on the Internet that the EdgeRider wheels are soft and that when the machine sets overnight that they get flat spots and that I need to roll the machine around before I start quilting to get the wheels rounded again. Is this true or false? A: This is false. The initial version of the EdgeRider Wheels used a softer material that sometimes developed flat spots and/or grooves. This was quickly realized and fixed with a more durable material and better installation. |

| Thanks Donna, I finally got my edgeriders on and quilted a baby quilt today. All I can say is WOW, what a difference. Not only did it handle better and I could control it better, but it also made the stitches better, possibly because I could control it better. I am so glad I jumped in and bought them. I used Chenile for the backing and was a bit worried about quilting that, but I needn't have worried at all. The stitches look beautiful on the chenille. My little GD will love this quilt someday. :) |

| Regarding carbon residue, the long arm quilter at our local quilt store recommended using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (the white one-dry) on the tracks. Seems to do the trick. Just thought I'd pass that on. |

| I hadn't thought of Magic Eraser !! I think I have tried everything else and nothing worked permanantly!! I need to get it all off before it gets lodged in my new wheels. :) |
