fleece as backing

I just quilted my first baby quilt on the Handiquilter II. I have my own machine. I had it taut and was just meandering everywhere but had blocks throughout that I would need to quilt off the frame. Everything looked good until I took it off and there were puckers and the blocks where I was going to quilt were not taut at all. Does anybody know what I did wrong? I pulled it taut but didn't stretch it so hard, is that what I need to do?

I think you probably rolled it too tight. I leave my quilts sagging a bit.

Have you done fleece as a backing before? I practiced with cotton and maybe I rolled that too tight too. When you say "rolled" do you mean on the bars or what is there to quilt?

I mean the area that is open to be quilted. I leave that a bit saggy. No, I have not done fleece as backing, but it's very stretchy stuff, so I would think that would be the problem.
