Does everyone keep their frame extended to one size most of the time? I find that I do a big quilt, then a lap quilt and back and forth, and I never have the foresight to know that I will do a few lap quilts, then a few larger, etc. so I have to keep changing my set up. I do a lot of donation quilt, small quilts that I use for "practice" that people just go crazy over and they often just pop up and I need to make one quickly. My fear with leaving it larger than I need is that my straps on the side won't keep the quilt stable enough if I'm doing a small quilt. What are your thoughts?
I have my frame set up at the largest I ever want to do (queen sized). I make all sizes of quilts - nothing larger than queen - and I always center my quilts so there is an even amount of strap on both sides. The straps should be long enough to meet your backing even if you are making a baby quilt.
well, since I went with the QuilTable, I leave it set up to the largest size it will go all the time... I've done small things on it, and not had a problem....
My straps on the side have velcro on them, so you can loosen and tighten them according to the size of the quilt...
These straps on the side that are velcro, do you still have to pin them to the quilt each time you roll it up? I'm confused about the purpose of the velcro.
no, you dont pin them, they clip on... look at the "store" on this site, they sell them there...
