Hi Guys - I told you I'd be back - unfortunately I thought I could at least get my machine up and running. I'm sure the threading is correct but the stitches under the quilt are loose. I have adjusted now for 3 hours and am only getting more and more frustrated. I knew there would be a learning curve but I was hoping to at least get the machine sewing. GRRRRRRR! Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Congratulation on your new machine! I understand your frustration!! But really it's a gift....because when you get it straightened out, you'll be a pro at understanding tension and can use so many different threads! First...are you sure the tension on your bobbin is right? I found that's the first place to start ALWAYS! If you're not sure if your tension in corrent, get on this website, click under education, click on to "how-to" and find out how to check your bobbin tension and make the appropriate adjustments. After that, here's the information given to me by my dealer (QuiltTrends in Columbus, OH): "On the top of the quilt, if the line of stitching has "pokies" coming through from the bottom, your TOP TENSION is too tight, so loosen the top tension. Remember, lefty loosey, so turn the top tension knob counter clockwise. Turn it half a turn at first. Whereas the bottom tension adjusts a degree at a time, it sometimes takes a good turn or two (360 degrees) to correct the top. Stitch a little, and continue adjusting the top tension knob until the stitching looks the same on the top and bottom of the quilt. On the bottom of the quilt, if the line of stitching has "pokies" coming through from the top, your TOP TENSION is too loose, so tighten the top tension. Remember, righty tighty, so turn the top tension knob clockwise. Stitch a little and continue adjusting the top tension knob until the stitching looks the same on the top and bottom of the quilt." Hope this information helps. I know it did for me! Happy Quilting! |

| Thanks so much for all the great advice. I did receive a DVD with the machine and have watched it numberous time and did adjust the bobbin tension before I started adjusting the top tension. After trying everything I could, I changed the thread and the bobbin thread and the tension was a lot better. It's still off a bit but I'll keep on playing with it and hopefully it will get better. Thanks again! |
