With the Christmas gift making season fast approaching I would like to quilt a couple of table toppers and lap quilts using metallic thread and wonder if any of you have ever used it and if so what brand thread did you use and what was your success???? Any special tricks to use with it? I have never had much success using it in the past with my regular sewing machine and found that it was constantly breaking but maybe there is a good brand for quilting machines that doesn't break so readily. Thanks! |

| I am working on a quilt right now using Superior metallic and So Fine in the bobbin. On my HQ dealer's advice, I only wound the metallic through one hole of the three-hole thread guide and I slowed way down. It worked just fine. I, too, have had problems with metallic thread on my dm, but on the HQ16 it was easy. |

| I've successfully used Superior's "Glitter" thread on my HQ16. I used my horizontal spool holder and only threaded it through the top hole on the tensioner. The results were very nice!! (I used either Bottom Line or Masterpiece in my bobbin). Good luck! It would be a beautiful addition to holiday quilts. Ohhhh... you might want to use a larger needle to minimize the friction on the thread....I used an 18. |
