Has anyone worked with chenille?

I am working on a baby quilt and want to add a 5 inch border of chenille. I am planning on adding these borders AFTER I quilt the main portion of the quilt. I'm afraid the hopping foot will get caught in the chenille and that I won't be able to roll the quilt up because of the bulk around the outside. Has anyone worked with chenille?

My daughters, "who know just a little more than enough to be dangerous," put chenille on the back of a quilt and stitched it on my HQ Sixteen when I was out of town. It was a gift for me and turned out very nice. I don't see why it would be a problem to use chenille on the front, either, unless it's a really long loopy chenille.
