Can the height of the hopping foot be adjusted higher or lower without affecting the operation of the machine? When I use medium or high loft batting I find the hopping foot pushing the fabric over. I'm not always in a position that I can use one hand to stabilize the fabric while I'm quilting. If the height can be adjusted would be great!
Thank you so much for that answer maureen. I've been watching the board and was surprised (and disappointed) when the educators didn't answer the question.

I had a suspicion that it was possible but I didn't want to screw up the machine timing.

Thanks gal, your advice is wonderful!

I'm sorry if your question was not answered. We try to answer all questions or help you find a way to get the answer.

As far as moving the hopping foot, you have already gotten the answer that, yes, it can be lowered and raised. The problem with adjusting it too much is that when the hopping foot does not have the right amount of presser on the fabric, it can cause the machine to skip stitches. It is adjusted to the correct height on each machine and sewn off to make sure everything is working correctly before they are sent out to the customers. If you adjust the hopping foot, be sure to count how many turns you lower or raise it so it can be put back into the same position after you have finished with the quilt that was causing the problem. Be sure to tighten the nut with one hand, while holding the foot with the other hand to keep it in place while it is being tightened.

I'm sorry your question was not answered in the past and I hope this helps you.
