HQ 16 on the Bernina Quilting frame

I have a Bernina 830 and the quilting frame that Bernina sells to go with it. I do not like to move the 830 back and forth from the quilting frame to my sewing table, and I would like to leave it on my sewing table and get an HQ 16 to use on the frame. Will that work?
There is a photograph of my frame at: http://www.berninausa.com/product_detail-n26-i292-sUS.html The platform that holds the machine is 21" x 10.5", but I think it would work better to use the HQ 16 carriage assembly if it fits. My dealer does not have an HQ 16 in the shop, because they substituted the HQ 18, so I don't have access to see the machine and measure things. If you can't get enough information from Bernina to see if the HQ 16 will work on their frame, can you give me the physical dimensions of the HQ 16 and details of its carriage size and structure? Thank you. I really hope that I can make this work. Karen |

Does your Bernina sit on a platform carriage on the quilting frame? If it does, I think it would be possible to use the HQ16 sit down version on it (because it doesn't have wheels). You would not be able to have a stitch regulator. You would need to use our carriage if you wanted to have a stitch regulator and our carriage would not fit on your frame. The other issue is that you would not be using the HQ16's full throat space. We called a Bernina dealer that also sells our machines and this information is what he told us. I hope it helps you.

Thank you, Kathi. Yes, my Bernina sits on a platform carriage. I do want a stitch regulator, though, and full use of the throat space, so it sounds like I would need to get a new frame, or else find an inexpensive used sit down version. This helps me simplify my decision process, although probably not the purchase process.
