HQ and Brother 1500

I had someone give me an HQ frame and I purchased a barely used Bother 1500 to use on it. I tried my first quilting with this setup on a wall hanging. My question is about starting and stopping. My brother has a thread cutter on it so I do not have to bring the bobbin thread up through the needle plate. This poses a problem for me when starting and stopping. I am curious as to how anyone else dealt with this. I really excited and looking forward to using the HQ system - previously I had been doing all my quilting on a Pfaff and moving the fabric. Axious to hear your answers - Ann in IL |

Ann, Before my HQ16 setup, I had the 1st generation HQ frame (6 yrs), and used by Kenmore (old) but it had a 9" throat space, and made many quilts. I always brought the bobbin thread up on top with the needle. Then manual walk back & forth at least 3 stitches so they lock and then you are good to go. The same for stopping, then snip top thread and reach under to snip bobbin thread. Hope this helps. |
