HQ Avante

| I read on one of the message boards that HQ is coming out with an 18 inch version of the machine, called the Avante. Some people have seen it at a quilt show. Is this similar to the Jewel, that HQ makes? When will this machine be available for purchase, and what is the expected cost? |

| Go to www.Whitlocks.com they have a picture of the new Avante, it lists features but no price. Guessing it will be around 10K, somewhere between the HQ 16 & the Fusion. Only place I have been able to find any info on it. |

| Just my luck. I have had my HQ 16 for only one year! I hope they keep it a around for parts when I have problems with mine -- none now but maybe in the future. It took me forever to convince my husband I needed this and now it is outdated. Kathy |

| I purchased an HQ Avante at the Houston Quilt Festival. Surprisingly the pricing isn't much more than the Sixteen. They are currently in production of models that are destined for dealers. They will start production of consumer machines in December and begin shipping in December as well or so I was told. It's kind of a bummer to have to wait for my machine until December, but it will give me time to get my space ready for it. It is very similar to the Sixteen except it has a longer arm. They indicated they are going to continue to make the Sixteen at least for the next year or two and would always support that machine if it makes you feel any better. |

Hi SwishandFlick, I also purchased a H.Q. Avante at the Houston Quilt Festival. I too am sooooo excited and can hardly wait until December to get it. I have never owned a longarm, so this is all new to me. I do have a Janome 1600P and a New Joy Frame that I will be selling. They are very good, so I can't wait until I can explore the Longarming, I am sure it will be quite a difference. What Table did you get with yours? I got the Studio Frame with mine.
Good luck with your NEW BABY when you get it. Cathy |

| I, too, bought at Houston with the Studio Frame. I need to get some space ready so waiting for December will make that easier but still toooo looong to wait! FYI, one of the reps said that they were not even selling their demo models from Houston as they had to take them to the next show because the ones they had were all that were available. |

That is what they told me too, SuSu. I don't think they will have the demo's for sale for quite some time, and its hard enough to wait until December. I am so excited about this new Avante and Studio Frame, and DH said this morning he wish they would surprise call early about shipping it out, so sounds like he is excited too. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I know that I will enjoy mine.

Thank you for easying my mine about being obsolute with my regulated HQ 16. I talked to my dealer today and she also said the price of the new Avante is like the HQ 16. What we don't know is if the quilt table with wheels will work with the Avate. I am going to purchase that table for my HQ 16 because I can't get rid of the vibration and my frame is always extended out full (I also have the extra leg but table still has a lot of vibration). I have never had a problem quilting on the HQ 16, my blocks are 10" or smaller. I really doubt I even need the extra 2" but had I waited till this year I would have bought the Avante. My dealer also told me that if I ever decide to get the Avante there is a huge market for used HQ 16's. That is good to know. It is a wonderful product.
Lucky for me and my dealter, the Des Moines Quilt Expo is this week so I will be making a long stop at the HQ booth. I have a lot of questions for the educator that will be at the booth. Kathy |

Kathy,
Yes, the Avante will work with the Quiltable. It will not be the V track like the Fusion has, it will be the white track you have now. Good luck quilting, Cheryl Duncan Handi Quilter Studio Educator |

I have an HQ 16, with a ProStitcher, on the Quiltable. If I decide to upgrade to the Avante, what all needs replaced? I've been told everything, and that seems strange to me since the notes on Avante say it works with the Quiltable, and with a ProStitcher.
Does the Avante have a different frame for the Quiltable to take advantage of the extra 2 inches? I've heard the stitch regulator encoders are different - do the new ones work on the Quiltable? I'd love an update to the HQ16 to give it both types of stitch regulation - any chance that is in the future? Thanks in advance, Joan |
