I am investigating longarm machines and quilt frames before making a decission on purchasing one. Does anyone out there use the Grace pinnacle frame with your HQ 16? If so please let me know the pros and cons of this frame. Thanks so much, NannyB |

| I have an HQ16 and a New Joy Magic quilting table. HQ did not have the sturdier tables that they have now or I would have one of theirs, especially the new one. I looked at the Grace Pinnacle frame and the new HQ one might be a bit more expensive but it is 2 feet bigger. Lately, king sized quilts have been getting bigger and bigger. If I could do it over again I would have bought the table and machine from the same place. When I purchased my machine it was not an option. In my opinion is makes solving problems easier. Is it the table(call their customer service) or is it the machine(call another customer service)? I have been thinking about trying to sell my table and getting the new HQ model but things are really working well with my quilting so I hate to rock the boat. I just finished a wall hanging this past Sunday, loaded on the table, quilted it, bound it and it's ready to go on the wall for Christmas. I LOVE MY HQ16! Almost instant gratification. |

Thanks so much Grandmapeg for the reply. I am so new to the longarm quilting world and am trying to do my research before taking the plunge. This is probably a stupid question, but can a smaller quilt be quilted on a 10 or 12 ft table? The pinnacle info talks about purchasing an optional section so that a 3 ft quilt or a queen size quilt can be quilted on it. I found this confusing. I assumed that any size quilt could be quilted as long as the frame was long enough. As you can see, I have a lot more research to do. A 10 ft table would fit in my sewing room better, but if I take down my cutting table I can fit a 12 ft table in. So much to think about and learn. I sure do appreciate this forum. I assume from your name that you are a Grandms like me. I am 64, but I still think this old dog can learn some new quilting tricks,at least I hope so. God Bless, NannyB |

Nancy A smaller quilt can be quilted on a large frame. The larger frame is great if you want to do queen and king size quilts. The new matresses these days are so tall that you almost have to do a king size quilt to cover a queen size mattress. I think they sell the smaller frames for folks who just don't have the room for a large frame. I got the biggest table because I do so many queen and king size quilts. I had to remove the closet in the spare room to fit it but I'm glad I did. Now I can do any size quilt on my machine. Good luck with your decision. I sure emjoy my HQ 16 and table! |
