I have installed the velcro on the poles and they are on straight. I have attached the velcro leaders on the poles but when I roll them up they are longer on the sides than in the middle. Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong? I am brand new at this and would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
Where are you putting your hands when you roll the bar? Try rolling it and not touching the leaders or fabric but only the bar. Don't touch the quilt except to smooth out wrinkles. If you tug on the quilt backing or top too much you can stretch it out of shape. Hope that helps.
Check your leaders to see if they are even. I had to re-make mine to square them up.
Hi,
The leaders that came with the frame are CHEAP. They stretch, so what I did was go to JoAnn Fabrics and buy some canvas (from the mark down section) and make my own. I was lucky enough to get some that was lined so I just had to fold and sew along the lines. I then sewed velcro and even added zippers on each so I never have to pull off by the velcro, i just unzip. The canvas I bought was less than $5 a yard and it has NO pull or stretch in either direction. The ones that comes with the set up are just cheap material and you really need something that will hold up with use and time. I believe baysidequilting.com has some leader fabric you can buy from them. Hope this helps.
Thanks to all for your suggestions. I think I may need to make new leaders. The appear to be square but they seem to stretch. Tried ironing the creases out, big mistake. There is some kind of sizing or starch on them and it got all over my iron. Thanks again. I'll try re-loading and if I can't get them straight, will make new ones.
Wal-Mart has some nice heavy ticking fabric that has the lines going lengthwise. It comes in blue and red. I made new leaders from that and have been very happy with it.
Can you give me "basic" instructions for making new leaders out of canvas?

Thanks,

Brenda
I got enough yardage to go the length of the poles twice to replace leaders on all four poles. (I have my poles extended as far as they'll go without any additions for King size.) I cut it down the middle where it is folded and serged three edges and left the selvedge. I attached velcro and then put the leaders on the poles. I tried to put the pieces of the original leaders on the ends where I had cut them off (before additing more poles and leaves in my table) but it didn't work. Each needs to be one long continuous piece. I hope this isn't confusing.
