| My lights have burned out twice since owning the machine, handiquilter was very helpful....I called and asked what to do about lights that are burnt out.....I got the replacement parts and installed them myself, no welding!.....I just did what the directions said, nervous but it worked! |

I just started using my simply sixteen last night. Is there supposed to be a light that shines so I can see where I'm stitching? TY |

Kittycucumber, There should be a light shining down in the needle area. This light comes from the handles and it might be turned off. In the DVD that came with the machine (or the advertisement for the machine) there is a lady demoing that says that she has turned off the light so the camera can see her stitching so I know that the light can be turned off. Check the set up area on the handles. I'd check my machine for you but unfortunately mine is in the shop and the manual that came with it doesn't give much information. Good luck. Donna |

My lights are mostly burned out on my front handles. I got goose neck light from Donita Reeves webpage, it provides all the light you could ever need. Makes a huge difference when quilting. Deb |

debk How do you hook up the goose neck light? I have one that I used with the Grace Frame but can't figure out a way to use it on my HQ16. Always can use extra light. Donna |

The one from Donita Reeves site is made for quilting machines and it clamps right on the machine. It is fabulous!! You can get the light right down by your work where you need it. This is the website http://www.lovetoquilt.com/ Click on Accessories on the left, go to Illuminator Light. I see it is quite a bit more expensive then when I bought mine. |

| Before handi quilter came out with their attachment, I bought an inexpensive goose neck lamp with a clamp and putit on the ledge where the thread spool is, it works fine. Using a flourescent bulb keeps the heat down. If it is plugged into the surge protector, everything comes on at one flick of the switch. Hope this helps. |

| Well, it looks as if the new upgrade is going to take care of the expensive lighting issue! Yeah..! Also looks as if you can have the option of having some, or none on. The HQ just keeps getting better.... |

| I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and purchased a short gooseneck lamp for about $10.00 and clip it onto the ledge where the thread goes. I put in one of the new bulbs, I think they are floresent, but they generate no heat. You can get them in "full spectrum" so they don't cast a green light on the fabric. In fact, they cast a light just like the OTT LIGHT. This set up works real well for me. |
