I have had my HQ16 for almost a year and have quilted many quilts on it and recently have been having some problems with the top tension (nesting and looping on backing of quilt) anyway I have read all the 'troubleshooting, etc) and have very carefully rethreaded over and over again and it seems the only time my machine sews correctly on the bottom of the quilt is when I have wound the thead around the top tension disc one and a half times---in other words, I go thru it completly and then up again --instead of the way you are supposed to which is just going thru the tension disc and making sure it flosses and then continuing on-------does anyone else have this?? Thanks for any help, advice, etc!
It's early yet. Call your dealer or HQ16 customer service. I can feel your frustration, but I don't think the way you are threading your machine can be good for the machine. Make those calls. Let us know what the problem is when it's fixed.
Thanks for responding. I did call both and HQ16 went over the process of threading with me and said to be sure I am 'flossing' the thread thru the tension disc correctly. I have called them several times over this past year and they have always been very helpful. Also having the dealer to call helps too. They said same thing but that if it was working the other way too, then that was OK. But it still bothered me so thats why I posted here. Just like you said (Grandmapeg) it might not be good for the machine. ANyway, I went back to the machine and really 'flossed' as good as I could and guess what---it worked!! I guess I just wasnt bringing the thread up tight enough before. Anyway, its fine now. I really appreciate this forum---a great place to get advice and help! Thank you
phyl, I had the same problem and i too thought it was threaded ok between the disks. I did the same thing you did and really flossed it and some lint popped out. Now I re floss more often to make sure there isn't any lint caught in between the disks. Happy Quilting!!
