I just got a new HQII frame for Christmas. I have loaded my first quilt onto it and am having problems. I can only sew about 3 or 4 inches before I have a problem - either my needle will break or the top thread will break. I have not even sewn one length yet and have gone thru 3 needles! When I first start quilting, the stitching looks great, but just before a break, the bobbin thread will start pulling thru the quilt top. I am using a Brother sewing machine - the same machine I used to piece the top and I had no problems. I cannot adjust tension on my machine as it is an electronic machine.
I know you hate to hear this but maybe you are going too fast for your machine. Or, have you tried to sew a straight line? Are you using a new thread and maybe need a bigger needle? I had a problem with tension and it turned out to be a loose piece of thread in my machine. Good luck.
Look in your manual and see if you have a setting for free motion work. From the sounds of it, you are having a tension problem. Usually for free motion on a domestic machine you need to lower the needle tension quite a bit so that the thread doesn't bend the needle and break it. Most machines if you can lower the feed dogs you can also adjust the needle tension.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
