Has anyone heard about the new HQ upgrade? It is suppose to replace the front handles and it is suppose to have a new screeen in the front that is adjustable. I also hear that one of the new features is suppose to have a self diagnostic of the HQ machine? I am all for it. It is coming I think in august but we can preorder now. I think the price is somewhere around 950.00. Anyone else heard anything?
Hi debigneckow,

I just picked my machine up (in for an overhaul) and the repair man mentioned something about the new handles but didn't mention anything about the diagnostic feature. The way he talked, I could just get new handles and it would make it easier for me to see the screen. I never asked him about the cost - I was just happy to have my machine back.

Hi Donna, thanks for answering me. I got off the phone awhile ago and he said that the upgrade would not be available til 8/8 he said that the msrp is 995.00 but the price he is allowed to sell it for was 799.00, it includes the new front handles with a tilt screen and software upgrade. As far as the diagnostic feature he said that was for the tech's. But they have new lights which can be changed individually. he also sd that HG is also going to be coming out later with black light bulbs so when you are quilting with white thread it will be very easy to see the quilting. I think I am going to order it. He said he will call me about 8/3 to get my order in. He said his rep at HQ said they have recd ALOT of calls on this.
I got my HQ a week ago, and have an adjustable screen on the front (needle-side). I test drove a machine with the front screen stationary facing the ceiling. I can see how it would be more difficult to read that screen unless the table was low or the operator was standing on a chair. The handles are adjustable in width and I think angle, but I am comfortable with them the way they are so haven't moved them around. This HQ is a great machine. Bea and I are having lots of fun!!!!
I just received a blurb from Handi Quilter - the new handles with the tilt screen are on sale and you can bet I will be notifying my rep today to putme on the list for them. I was just moaning the other day, that it was so hard for me to do my settings because I am short and near sighted, and Viola, a tilt screen. I was also complaining to mysleft that I have to reset the settings at each power up. Looks like the new software will allow us to save them! YaY!!
Went to my dealer today to look at the new upgrade. It looks good. I like the lights, and the tilt screen. The diagnostic screen said it will be coming soon, not on it yet. Also liked the stitch counter. My dilemna is the price. Seems pretty steep and won't really increase functionality, just some nice stuff. I am still completely undecided whether to buy it or not. Have any of you tried it out yet at the store? What do you think????

I ordered the upgrade and the new screen and handles....It did seem expensive, but having the lights replaced in the old was about $230, now I will be able to do it myself and the new feature lets you have some, none or all of the lights on. If your thinking about it the time is now, while it is much less expensive.
I've already placed my order for the upgrade through HandiQuilt. My dealer is about 80 miles away and I don't want to drive that far. I'm also upgrading the power pack.
Peggy. I have not heard anything about an upgrade on a power pack. What is it? Thanks. Debi
I have finally decided to order the new upgrade. I have to go to SLC next week and am going to try to stop by Handiquilter and see if I can get the new upgrade there and bring it home with me.
