Has anyone ordered the new micro handles and do you know if you have to have the upgraded handles to use them?

I am thinking of getting the new micro handles but never thought about having to upgrade to the new handles. I still have the old handles. My machine in being serviced right now so I'll ask the repairman if I need the new handles first.

If we order the microhandles - can they be installed ourselves or is there additional things to be done by representative

I ordered them last week. I spoke with a tech at HQ to be sure I could use them on my machine which is about 3 years old, original handles and stitch regulator. He said yes. He also said it is a simple add on...do it yourself.

I just ordered micro handles from http://www.hqmicrohandles.com for less than half the price. What I didn't like about HandiQuilters offer is that they didn't show a picture and this place did. Hope this works out.

The microhandles Donna ordered aren't the new microhandles by HQ. The handles Donna ordered are handles only, with no control buttons on them. As I understand it, the actual HQ handles have lights and control buttons on them, so you don't need to jump off the microhandles and onto your main handles to stop and start. I know a lot of people like the ones Donna got, but I'm hoping the new ones from HQ will make micro-quilting easier.

Donna - You can see a good picture of the micro handles right here on HQ's site...home page, upper right hand corner. QBee, you're correct, the new HQ microhandles have the controls and lights!

Thanks for the info. I looked under gadgets and such which was why I couldn't find the picture - now I found it. I'm still happy with the savings and willing to give up the lights and controls. What bugs me most about HQ is that they offer us something, sight unseen, with a "hurry up" attachment. I just took my machine in for service last Tuesday and asked about the new handles and they didn't know anything about them. You'd think that HQ would get these things to their dealers before they give us the "deal". After spending so much money on the machine, I hate to keep forking out more without test driving first. Have a great day.

i actually just ordered them since the deadline for the "intro" price is tomorrow. i was very uncomfortable when AFTER all my credit card info had been given, there was a message saying there were certain charges that would be added WHEN the transaction was made. that's very trusting of me (as well as a little stupid) to continue with the sale, but i guess i'll keep my fingers crossed. sounds like a great idea.... anxious to see how everyone likes them.

I ordered my handles from http://www.hqmicrohandles.com on Sunday, they were shipped on Monday and arrived the next Thursday. I'm very happy with them and of course the savings of $125 isn't bad either.

Anyone have their new microhandles yet? I'm waiting "patiently" for my shop to get their wave of deliveries as "the powers that be" have ordered. Any news?

I got my new handles this week. They are wonderful! I have been having trouble making the transition from domestic machine to the HQ. I was having trouble following stencils. I still need some practice, but the new handles have made an incredible difference in the quality of my quilting! And my stippling has become considerable smaller and neater.

I just got mine and had them hooked up in 15 minutes. I have the older handles - you don't need to upgrade handles to use the new microhandles. I was having lots of trouble getting good looking designs before I got these handles. I'm in love with my HQ16 all over again. I love the controls being on these handles and the light is fantastic!

I got my handles yesterday and installed them in about 20 minutes. So far I have just been playing with them, it looks like I have better control. They don't interfere with the view of the needle when using the regular handles either, I have not used rulers but I think it could be done. Momo4, I to ordered them the same way you did. They were worth the wait.

Tell me, do you that have already used the handles..sit down to quilt? How far down/up do you have them and how have you got them turned. I just got them installed and have not played with them yet. wonder if they can be used if you "float". Thanks ChaZ |

I purchased the microhandles through my local quilt shop (they came from Handiquilter) for the intro price. At first, I was skeptical of them, especially after hooking them up and the controls wouldn't work. I called Handiquilter, spoke with the tech, and I was sent another set, which I received within a few days. Well, after giving them another try, I just love them! The light on them is great and it's very easy to transition between the upper front handles and the microhandles. (depending on what type of quilting you might be doing). I can't say enough about this company! Their customer service is superb!

I finally used mine and I think they are great! Love the extra light and I even did some detailed work sitting down. Remembering what button is what was my only "problem" and I can't say enough good things about them. I think I'll go use them now. Bye!

I've had on HQ16 a few days and bought the micro handles in the package. Since I'm fairly new to quilting, I can control them much easier than the regular handles for tiny places.
