I just had my new HQ Sixteen delivered. Now, I am uncertain as to what size to set up the table. If I set the table at 10.5 feet, I will only have about a foot to get around the side of the table. I will have plenty of room both in front and behind the table. Has anyone had success setting up in this narrow of a space?

Any advise would be helpful. Thanks.
Hi carolynmink,
Yes, I have 20 inches enough room to get around. the other end is up against the slanted ceiling. My problem is barely enough room on the back for pantos and groovy boards. My HQ is set up on the beline frame at 10 feet. I had to trim a border of 1 inch all around to get to fit on the frame. It can be set up to 12 feet but I do not have the room.
As long as you can around the edge with no problem you should be fine.
Good luck and enjoy!

I also have space issues. Usable part of the room is about 12x12. I have the table on slides so I can pull it away from the wall when doing pantos from the back. That only leaves about 18 inches to get around it on a 10-foot table and I am not a small person! It is still worth it to me to have it set up as large as possible. I can do large quilts but I have turned away customers because my table will not accomodate a king. I would have it set at 12 feet if I could. Bottom line is if you can get around the table I would keep it as large as possible.
I agree with everyone. If you can, leave your set up as long a possible. You know if you set it up for a short quilt, SOMEWHERE out of the blue will come a big quilt.
What about setting it in cata-cornered? quiltbydesign
Thanks everyone for the advice. My husband and I decided since, it is on wheels, we will go as big as it will go. We rearranged the room in order to put it at the other side. The room is strange with a walk through closet. This allows me to walk through the closet to easily get in front and back of the table. If I push the table back to the wall , I the have a hallway that I can move the poles in and out without any problem. This works great.

I went to my training class and a power source blow somewhere on the machine . The staff at the shop had never seen this before and had to contact HQ. Has anyone else seen this? HQ said it is very rare.

So, I am still waiting for my training class. In the mean time, I finished 3 quilt tops.
