I believe that I saw an online video in the Education area of this website. It showed how to install the stylus, but I don't remember what else it covers. I also think I saw a previous post concerning setting up the groovy boards. I would think the GBoards would be similar to a pantograph, but am not sure since I am new to all this as well.

The groovy boards, with the exception of the Baptist Fan, are non-directional meaning, you can place them either direction on the table.
When you are using the groovy boards we recommend that you use the blue painters tape to help secure the boards to the table. Try not to use so much pressure that you move the boards when you are stitching.
As you are stitching out your design make sure you are "hugging" one edge or the other as you travel through the boards. When you reach a point, pause so that you get a nice point on your quilt. When you stop, make sure you stop in a place that won't show when you start up, such as a corner or a point.
When you are ready to roll your quilt pick a high point in the stitching line on your quilt and put you needle down at that point. Now roll your quilt, with the needle down in the quilt, until the stylist lines up in the area on the board that will interlock with the design you just quilted. Once you are where you want to begin your next row of quilting, baste your sides down and attach you clamps. Then using your stylus, to indicate your next stitching placement, check the board, and your previous row of stitching to make sure it is lined up and won't overlap the stitching you just did. Once you are lined up stitch out your design. Look at the design on the board and try to keep your spacing between rows about the same as the spacing on the board.
When you are using the groovy board stylus you want to use a gentle pressure. When you use too much pressure you can break a tip and you risk moving the boards.

Good luck,

Yes, they are similar to using a pantograph. Also if you go back to the "Education" section you will find several different topics that will help you.

On the baptist fans, the long line is used for placement and not used to be stitched out. It should be closest to you when you are standing at the back of the machine.

The direction the fans go is a matter of preference, but normally the fans are like a rainbow from the top to the bottom. If the quilt is directional, you would want start from the bottom. If the quilt is not directional, it does not matter which end you start from.

I hope this helps.
