Just got my new Avante with studio frame and Pro-Stitcher... (hee-hee!)
1. What's the optimize button under library menu on the PS do? It brings up another menu .... can't find the button in my manual, which had some discrepancies from the PS that I have. ( back and done buttons)

2. Is there a certain step order you must follow... for example, after selecting my design to repeat four times, and doing the trace, I found that the design didn't cover enough area. Do I have to go back to selecting the design from the library to make the necessary changes and start over?

Anyone out there who can answer my questions, please send me an email.

Thanks,
Susan

After repeating and finding that you are a little short or big, just go the the resize screen and change the width then hit 'fit to area', it will change the size and you can confirm that by looking at the top banner. You will have to reposition it, then trace it, then STITCH IT! Yippee
First you will go into "Resize" and put in the height of the design the size you want and push "Keep Aspect Ratio" under the height button. Write down the height and width of the resized pattern on a piece of paper so you don't forget what it is (you will see it on the bar at the top of the screen). Now you are going to go into "Repeat Pattern". There are three options on how to repeat your pattern. The one I use more than anything else is "Skew to Fit". Push this button. Place your machine on the left edge of your quilt and push "Reset Home". This will zero out the "X" and "Y" on the top bar of the screne. Now pull the machine across your quilt to the right edge of it. The "X" will give you the measurement of the width of your quilt. In the box on the left hand of the screen, put in the height of your pattern that you resized it to and the width of the whole quilt that you just measured. If you move the machine while you are doing this, the numbers will change after you have entered them in the boxes. I lock the machine in place while I am doing this by pushing the button in the top right hand of the screen so it is green and reads "Motor Enabled". There is another small box under the width box that reads "Repeat # of Widths". You are going to do some math. Take the width of the design you resized and figure out how many times it will need to be repeated to fit across the width of the whole quilt. (Example: My design is 9 inches wide and the width of my quilt is 95 inch. I am going to try repeating the design 10 times and see how that looks. The designs can not be repeated 1/2 sizes. I will need to decide if I like it better repeated 9 times or 10 times. I will enter 9 or 10 in the box the reads "Repeat # of Widths", then I will push the button "Fit to Area Point to Point"- which is telling the it to connect the designs together point to point) The design will appear on the screen repeated the amount of times you entered. You can zoom in and look at it to see if it is too crowded looking or too elongated. If it is not the way you want, all you have to do is enter another number and push "Fit to area point to point" again. As long as you don't exit out of that screne, you can change the number of repeats as many times as you want until it looks the way you like. What "Skew to Fit" does is stretch or shrink the design to fit the length of the quilt that you entered in. When you are satisfied with how the design looks, exit out of that screen and go to "Reposition Pattern".

The other question you asked is what the "Optimize" button does. There are three settings (slow, medium, and fast). You can choose to set it to stitch the fastest it can on your chosen design or slow it down to medium speed or slow speed. You can even change this setting in the middle of stitching the design. While it is stitching, there is a box at the top that has an arrow on the left and right side of it. Push the right arrow until you get to "Optimize" and change it to the speed you want it to be.

I hope this answers your questions.
