Partially quilted quilt

| I used a friend's HQ16, but half way thru quilting my quilt, I got terribly sick & had to go home with the quilt unfinished. Another friend has a AQS longarm & she said I should be able to go back to my friends & just attach the partially finished quilt as one piece. She has done it with quilts that come to her spray basted. Is this possible? I only have a little more to do & if I can't get it back on the HQ, it may sit here for ever. HELP please! |

Whenever I have had to remove a quilt early, I pin it to the take up roller first, roll it up to almost my starting point and then I only pin the backing to the backing roller and tighten up the quilt.
Hope this helps |

| Thank you so much for your response. I should have included, in my original post, that my friend had my quilt the last row of the quilt, before we took it off the HQ16, so I would not be able to pin the backing to the backing roller. It literally is all in one piece now, with quilting needed in the center of the quilt. |

Yes, you can put your quilt back on the frame to finish quilting it. Attach the quilt to the take up roller (leader) first. Then roll it up completely. Then attach it to the bottom (belly bar) roller, roll it back and forth to make sure it is straight. After it is straight you can move to the area you need to finish and quilt away.
Good luck finishing your quilt. Cheryl Duncan Handi Quilter Studio Educator |
