pedal not as responsive

I'm on a 16 Sit-Down, and the last day or two I've noticed that my pedal doesn't seem to respond the way it used to. When I try to do a needle up/down with one press, sometimes it does nothing - or does a full stitch - or even stops half way. I've checked the plug in the back, and it seems fine.
The only thing I can think of is that my machine butts up against a very cold wall (this house is ancient). Could the cooler temperature affect the machine? Is there something else I can check on the pedal itself? |

First I would see if you could move the machine to a different place. The cold does affect the circuit boards in the machine. I would not put a space heater near the machine as that will heat the boards to quickly and may crack them. Just move it to a warmer place in the room.
Check the foot pedal to confirm you don't have something stuck in it like a thread or something. If you are so inclined, you might see if you can take it apart to clean it out. |
