Hi, I am finally going to take the plunge and invest in a longarm quilting machine! I plan to buy the HQ-16 Stitch Regulated Machine, but cannot decide on a table. Is there enough reason to spend an additional $900+ on the QuilTABLE? ...or is the adjustable table satisfactory enough?
I have the QuilTABLE and really do like it. It has a steel frame and seems to give a lot of stability. My only complaint is the table top pieces should fit in just a bit tighter. For me, the QuilTABLE is the way to go.
I just got my HQ 16 and I love it. We talked about what kind of table to put it on, we finally decided to purchase bathroom base cabinets (10 1/2) feet of these which consisted of 5 sets of 18" w 24" deep, and 0ne 30" w 24 d with doors. We then purchased a 11' formica top and placed on top of the cabinets. It works great and I have tons of drowers to store supplies. We got these items at a company that handled used and surplus items, so the cost was much less than places like Lowes/HomePot. Less than $400.00
Has anyone with the adjustable table tried to rig a batting bar underneath to hang the batting? I'm thinking a piece of conduit or a wooden closet rod set on the braces for the legs might work?
Thank you all for your information and ideas. Right now I am leaning more toward the QuilTABLE because of the batting bar and stability. I plan to purchase next week, so will check out the adjustable table again.

Saraann, that sounds like a great table! I made my cutting/ironing table kind of like that and I love it. I used 3 kitchen drawer units (12 drawers) and glued a 3' wide door to the top, then set them on a sheet of plywood with rollers. I covered the whole door with ironing fabric so I have a big area to press my quilt tops.

Jean, I thought about the batting bar underneath, but wouldn't you be limited in batting width? Since I don't have the table yet, I don't know the measurements.
That's a good point. I'll have to measure. I forgot that my batting is 90+ inches wide and is folded. Darn.
Not to worry. The table is about 127" long and so is the batting bar. Remember it is set up for a king size quilt which is 120".
Crashnquilt, are you talking about the Quiltable or the HQ adjustable table? I have never seen a batting bar underneath the adjustable table.
I'm talking about the QuilTable. Sorry for the confusion. I really do like the QuilTable. It is very sturdy and the batting bar is great. Be sure to read the instructions AND watch the DVD they send before you put everything together. When I set up my system I put the frame on backwards (yes it is possible)
I too have the quilt table. I love it. My problem is that I have it in a room that is a little to small.Only be cause when I run out of batting I need to open the back door to pull out the rod and change the roll.
