I am a new HQ16 (with ProStitcher) owner and am learning the programs but have a very basic question. I know how to work the ProStitcher for individual block quilting, but if I design an entire quilt pattern in QuiltCAD (for example an edge-to-edge stipple), how does the ProStitcher stitch it out? Will it automatically stop at the end of a row so I can roll up the quilt? Do I reposition the HQ16 at the beginning of the next row or will it stitch right to left? How do I know how much to roll up to accurately position the next row? Sorry if these questions have been answered before. I love my HQ16 -- thanks, in advance, for your help!
First of all, you don't want to design the entire quilt on Quilt Cad. Just design one row, send it over to the HQ Pro-Stitcher, and then repeat that row over and over.

After the design is sent to the HQ Pro-Stitcher, you will "Resize" it to fit the width of your quilt. After it is resized, you will need to go into "Reposition" and position the pattern to start on the left edge of your quilt. Use the "Follow" button to make sure it is fitting in the area the way you want it to. When you know it is fitting correctly, you go into "Run Quilt" and start quiltimg out the first row. When the first row is finished quilting, it will tie off and stop. You will cut your threads and move the machine back to the left hand side of your quilt. Before advancing your fabric, you will go into "Run Quilt" and "Nudge" down the height of the pattern (Ex: If your pattern is 8 inches in height, go into "Run Quilt" and nudge the pattern down 8 inches).

At this point, looking at the screen, move your machine to the top left hand corner of the design and put your needle down into the fabric. With the needle in your fabric, advance the quilt enough for the next row to be sewn without hitting the bars on the frame. Go into "Reposition" and position this row just as you did the first row.

Continue this procedure to the end of the quilt. When you get to the last row, the height of the design might be larger then what is remaining on the fabric. If this is the case, go into "Reposition" and position just as you did with each row. Now you will go into "Crop" and crop off the bottom of the pattern so it will fit on your quilt perfectly.

Good luck and have fun!
