I am having trouble figuring out how to re-open a previously exported and saved design that was created in Pattern CAD. I have successfully saved to USB and stitched it out, but want to elaborate on my design for another quilt. How can I re-open this in Quilt CAD or Pattern CAD to continue drawing?
You can do more to the pattern you created by first going into Pattern CAD and clicking on "file" on the top bar-left hand side. Click onto "Open pattern". Scroll through until you find what you saved your pattern under. Click it and the pattern will show up in the bottom box. Click on the "OK" button and it will bring your design into Pattern CAD. At this point, you are set to make any kind of changes you want. Be sure to save the changes you have made.

Good luck!

"I have tried your suggestion, but find that only ".gpf" type files are available for opening in pattern CAD. There is not an option to select "all file types" when seeking a file to open. However, the previously saved file becomes a ".hqf" type of file when it is exported, and it becomes a ".tap" file when saved in Prostitcher. How can I re-open either of these types of files bacl into PatternCAD? Is there a filter or setting somewhere that I need to change?Thank you, Mary Ann"
Mary Ann,
The only files you can open in Pattern CAD are the "gpf" files, these are your working files. Once you send it to Quilt CAD if becomes an "hqf" file which is a "stitch file." You can not make changes to an "hqf" file in Pattern CAD. If you want to change a design you have been using you need to go back into Pattern CAD and make the changes to the "gpf" file. The "hqf" file and ".tap" file can only be read on the Pro Stitcher.
