Ready to buy new machine/ table questions

| Hi I am ready to buy a new HQ 16 machine (I think). Can the studio frame be sized to 10 ft??? I like this frame better. Also, why HQ 16 vs Tin Lizzie 18??? I keep going back and forth. Also, I would love the gammill or aqs machine but because I am new and not sure I want a business I think it is wiser to get a machine for 1/2 the cost and really figure out what i like. If I decide just to use it for me then it will pay for itself in a few years. What do you think? Thanks Lisa |

Hi Lisa, I'm a complete neophyte, but I just installed a studio frame this weekend. The frame can be set up for 4' ,8', or 12'....any other configuration would require sawing through metal and probably ruining the integrity of the frame. While it can be changed once it's set up to a certain size, it's a complete re-assemble. I would have loved to set mine at 12' but the room just wasn't big enough. I, too, would like a 10 foot frame, and who knows, maybe Handi-Quilter will come out with a 2 foot retrofit section upgrade (hint, hint) I can't help you with your choice of machines, everyone has their favorites. I will tell you though, that I love the lightness of the HQ16....the carriage movement is wonderful. marianne |

lisaann I too wasn't sure if I wanted to start a business or even if I would enjoy machine quilting so I didn't want to take out a loan to purchase a machine which I would have had to do in order to purchase a gammill. I made the decision to purchase the HQ 16 and I love it. I enjoy using it and since it has a stitch regulator I was able to start quilting right away. My table is set up at all times at 12 ft. I had to remove the closet in the spare bedroom in order to fit it and I'm glad I did. I make mostly king size quilts now because queen size beds with the new taller mattresses need a king size quilt. It is a great machine and I haven't experienced any problems. I learn a lot from this forum and haven't had to even call tech support because the quilters on this forum are willing to share their knowledge. Good luck with your decision. |

| Amen to a 2 foot "upgrade" for the Studio frame! I don't have room for 12 foot either, and 8 foot is a bit too small, 10 would be perfect! |

Hi, I am still in the dreaming stage and like lisann, I am also debating between the HQ 16 and the Tin Lizzie 18. Can anyone give me some insite on this? Also, it sounds like the studio frame is the way to go instead of the pro frame that seems to be the package frame. Does anyone know how much choosing the Studio frame over the HQ pro frame adds to the usual package price? Any and all advice would certainly be appreciated. Thanks, NannyB |
