I just started playing with my ruler base and the versa tool and I am having problems - the machine seems to drag and the thread keeps breaking. Any suggestions? The machine was working fine before with free-motion quilting.
Hi,
You might be pressing down too hard when using your versa tool. I've done this. It takes practice to use a light touch. Good luck.
Also, you may have the poles set down too far on the frame. That is the problem I was having with drag. I set my poles up one hole on the frame and that took care of the problem.

You do hold the rulers firm but you don't need a death grip on them. It does take a bit of practice.

Regarding thread breakage, are you moving too fast or too slow? If the machine was working just fine before, this would be the only thing I can come up with for thread breakage. I have found that if I turn the needle just a hair to the right, this helps prevent thread breakage.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
Thanks for the ideas - it is getting better - I was holding the ruler down too tight - now I need to work on adjusting the speed to coordinate with how fast I'm moving the needle...
