Speed/Stitch Regulator

I am having trouble with the stitch regulator. It works fine when at a continuous speed, but when I slow down to do detail work the stitches get large and the machine almost stalls. Going straight backwards seems to be the worst. I have checked the level of the table and everything is good.
I'm also wondering about the speed. We purchased this machine used and did not have much for user manual information. What speed should I set it at when using the stitch regulator? Thanks in advance for any help. All I want to do is quilt!! |

When you are in "Regulated" mode on your quilting machine you can set your stitches per inch, NOT your speed. A speed setting is only for "Manual" mode. When you are in Regulated mode you will see your stitches per inch at the top of the screen. When you are in "Manual" mode you will see your speed followed by a percent sign. As far as your stitches being larger, especially when you are going in one direction, make sure your cables are plugged in tight. If you are going very fast and slow down very quickly your machine takes a couple of stitches to recognize that you are slowing down. Try slowing down a little more gradually.
