My machine is skipping stitches. My rep and tech were at my house for 2 hours last night. We did the whole bit with changing needles, bobbin, thread; cleaning and oiling. Finally, they took the machine back with them. The hook assembly was replaced last week. Could the new one be defective? The tensions are good. Stitches are good until they start to skip. Timing is good. Using King Tut thread. Size 16 needle. Any ideas out there?
What kind of fabric? If it was hand dyed and some batik fabric that could be the problem. The hole being made is too big and not enough friction to hold the thread down.

regarding the hook assembly, it depends on what caused the other assembly to be defective. Could be they replaced the part but did not solve the actual problem? I had that happen on a domestic machine.
We just had our HQ serviced for this same problem. The culprit on our machine was a notch in the bobbin casing somehow caused by the needle. When the needle would come down into the bobbin casing, it would work its way into this notch and cause all sorts of skipping issues. Also, there was a small burr on the needle head. So, that was fixed and all seems to be in working order now. ...I know this is an older post, but I hope this will help others when searching for answers.
For King Tut thread, which is thicker thread, I would up my needle size to a 18. I find that for this thread, which I use alot, it works better for me. Give this a try and see if it helps.
