Does anyone have the new studio frame? Is it worth the sale price of $1700? Are the poles made so they won't sag? I'm using my HQ16 with a wooden ProFlex frame and am not happy with the smoothness, or lack of it, when quilting.
Yes, the new Studio frame is a huge improvement over the old frame and poles. It's much more comparable to a commercial frame, and the poles are very sturdy now, there should be no problem with them sagging.

The batting bars are really great!
Thanks for your comments. I sent an email to my dealer saying I wanted to order one. Love your room. It looks very neat. Can't wait to get my batting off the floor.
Does anyone have the instructions for setting up the new studio frame. I just got mine and no instructions. Now I have to wait till Tuesday when they open. Thanks
How much floor space do you need? Twelve feet long? how wide, plus standing room? Trying to set up my room before ordering.
Did your Studio Frame come with leaders? Nothing is mentioned in the write-ups. With a frame there should be leaders included.
Yes it comes with leaders, although they're pretty flimsy, you'll probably want to get some canvas or ticking and make your own.

You're going to need about 9 feet in depth minimum, and 3 feet longer than whatever length you set the machine up at.
I've just upgraded my Handiquilter. I bought the studio frame and the tabletop has a lip about 3 inches wide and a little less than a quarter inch deep along the long edge. I'm not sure what that is for and if it should be set up so it faces the front or back of the table. I don't want to keep going on the set up until I know the side it should be on so I won't have to disassemble it later if it's wrong. Can anyone help?
CJ - A quick question, if I may. I see another set of handles (on the left of your picture)...looks like under the HQ16 handles? Is this something you already had? Something extra you ordered? I am so glad to hear the poles don't sag now. I almost discounted HQ because of this problem. I am in California and will be going to the show in Santa Clara on the 17th. My first show, I can hardly wait!.

Thanks!
Sarah
stefanies mom,
Those are the new micro handles from HQ16. They make close small work easier to control
Yep those are the new micro handles. They're wonderful, they make control much easier, plus they have an extra light that shines directly over the needle.
Hello to everyone.... this is a venting moment for me....my new studio frame arrived and has been sitting outside in the rain (partially under cover). Now, we know how much a studio frame goes for and yet I didn't receive any notification, at all, regarding the delivery date. Nothing from HQ, dealer, or UPS. Not even tracking numbers so that I could follow as to when the studio frame was to arrive.
Thanks for listening.
Cathie
Cathy,
My first call would be to UPS. Letting them know that they left an expensive item exposed to the rain will cover you if there is any damage to the table. Give HQ16 a heads up. It may prompt them to notify in the future.
I did notify HQ with the same message and asked for a follow-up. They did respond quickly to this matter. They need to investigate as to why this happen with their shipping dept. and UPS. Hopefully, I'll get a response as to where the error was. Who knows, but they are aware this had occurred.
Again, thanks.......Cathie
I have a question for ciaporte or anyone who has installed the studio frame. Ciaporte asked earlier about the three inch (or so) slightly raised lip edge on the "table" portion of the frame that runs lengthwise. In the directions there is no mention of which direction this raised edge should face, I'm wondering if it matters, or if it pertains to something like the pro quilter or something. I'm ready to install the frame but would hate to have to break it down if I put that edge on the wrong side.

Thanks for any help,

marianne

I just put my studio frame together today and the 3" raised part is to be in the front. It is for anyone with or for future if you have a pro-stitcher. It does mention it in the instructions. Have it face towards the rollers.
Cathie
Cathie,
Thank you, I don't remember seeing it in the directions, but that doesn't mean much with my brain these days!
I pretty much figured out from looking at different pictures on-line that the raised edge should go to the front, glad I guessed correctly.
The frame is up (thank you, Barbara, I believe you are the one, for the small nuances you've written about....made a huge difference when I put the roller frame on to realize that the roller frame wants to straddle to table mount.) and the machine is working well. I'm playing with a "doodle cloth" and am learning lots.
This frame is awesome (even hubby said that it was a quality built frame....high praise from him).

Back to playing.....hoping to put the first of several pieced tops on tonight.......geez, this is fun!

I just got my studio frame and machine up and i must say, i did not know that the bottom roller was for batting.. i had not even thought about it yet...that is awesome...i am going to play today!!
i also think the leaders are flimsy..i made my own with my handquilting frame and i think i will be making new ones for this frame...but, all in all, i think this frame looks terrific
have a great sewing day everyone
