I have an HQ Sixteen machine I purchased 3 years ago. I have not been able to acheive the tension I desire on the back of the quilt no matter what I try. I am looking to purchase a Towa Guage now and am wondering if you can tell me what the manufacturer recomends for the bobbin tension for my machine. I would appreciate any other suggestions you may have.

My desire is to continue to enter my quilts into competition and so what would be acceptable tension in many cases is not for me. Can you help me?

Thank you!
If you go to under the Education heading you will find a link to Video Tips & Tricks. From there go to "How to Videos", then to Machine Maintenance Videos. Under this you will find several videos that will be helpful. One of them is called Bobbin Tension. This will help you learn how to properly set you bobbin tension. If you are wanting to use the Towa Gauge, I would suggest that the bobbin tension be between 200 and 220.

As far as your question on whether the table would make a difference, I can't see how that would be the problem. We use the portable table in our studio with no problems. If you have it extended, be sure to have the leg brace in the middle of the table.

If you have tried all the suggestions in the video and are still having bobbin tension problems, have you tried using a different bobbin case? Maybe there is an issue with that.

I hope some of these suggestions help you with your tension.
