I've been having a problem with the top thread breaking then the bobbin thread breaking AND when it does work, I have eyelashes on the bottom and loose threads on the top. I am using Super Bob on the bottom and lava (superior) on the top. I've done three quilts before and didn't have this problem. Is it a tension issue? I am very new to my machine. Thanks!
First I would replace the needle. If you still have this problem turn the needle eye just a HAIR to your right.

Are you in stitch regulated mode? If so what spi do you have it set on?

Also you might try slowing down a bit. Are you getting the eyelashes while doing a curve? If so, you are moving the machine too fast for the curve. Just like driving a car, you have to slow down on the curves.

Keep us posted on your progress.
You can have your tension "balanced" and still have problems because both the bobbin and the top thread are too tight. Loosen the bobbin thread so that it slids down the thread very slightly. Then loosen your top tension. If you are getting eyelashes as you go around a curve tighten your top tension, if you are sure your bobbin tension correct. If your thread is shredding then turn your needle slightly towards "5:00."
Good luck.
