Does anyone know of an adapter to use the cones of thread? I'm fairly new with my HQ and when I tried a cone of thread instead of a spool, my top thread seems extremely loose and I'm wondering if the 'flopping around' of the cone is causing it? Any suggestions or hints? |

| I purchased one of those DeelyBob things to hold my cones and stop the flopping. They work great - you can get them on Ebay or in some of the quilting catalogs. |

My thread cones do not flop around on the spool. Are you using the standing spool holder at the back of the machine? If you are getting some "flopping around" you might try using a thread net on the cone. lindasue- I use Signature, Maxi-Lock, Coats&Clark as well as Superior Threads. Once you get to messing around with your machine, you'll find that you can use just about any thread your little heart desires. I am SUCH A THREAD JUNKIE! I do like Superior Poly Quilter BUT it is such a heavy thread that you can get thread build up real quick if you don't watch what you are doing. The serger threads are very thin and if you have to backtrack a design they don't show quite as bad. |

I am using the standing spool holder that came with the machine but the Superior Thread cones are hollow on the inside so there's probably a 1" diameter hole for the spool holder which is only approx 1/4" diameter. Now I'm wondering if its just the brand name of cone threads that have different size 'holes' (if all this makes sense to anyone). BerninaBrat - Thanks for the hint on the DeelyBob things; I'm looking them up right now and hoping this will solve my problem. |
