What type of thread do you find works best in the HQ Sixteen? I wanted to use some varigated thread by signature and found that I couldn't get the tension adjusted. The machine works just fine with the thread that came with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. One more thing do you have to adjust the tension each time you change your thread size, color etc?
Thanks,
Vicki
Usually I do have to change tension settings when I change threads. Sometimes I have to change tension when I replace the bobbin.

I like Maxi-Lock Swirls for varigated thread. It is actually a serger thread but does work nice in the HQ16.
Thank you for the tip on using the Maxi-lock thread, I will give it a try. I've only had my HQ16 for a few months and am still learning things so I appreciate all the help I can get!
Happy Quilting!
I have a friend who uses King Tut in the top and bobbin, and hasn't had any breakage with it.

I am interested in knowing more about what threads people are having good luck with.

I just ordered my machine last week, so hopefully it won't take too long to get it here!

For those who use the MaxiLock serger thread: Do you use the same thread in the bobbin? or do you choose a solid color Maxilock thread to match your backing?
I've used the Coats & Clark big spools of variegated thread on top and in the bobbin and had good luck. I also have used it on top and the Superior that comes with the machine on the bobbin. That worked, too. I did have to adjust the tension on the bobbin case a little. Somewhere in this forum someone said to be sure and do a sample before you begin the quilt and that is a GREAT idea.
