I have the first Handi Quilter (Unable to upgrade at this time). I am having trouble quilting with the Janome 10001. Thread breaks and it seems to drag on the quilt. I removed the needle, but same thing happened. I finally removed the quilting foot and it works only with the bare needle. What could be causing this?
There are a couple of things you can do. First of all is your quilt frame set too high? Make sure that the quilt is riding on the bed of your machine. If it isn't then lower your frame a little. It may also help if you slow down a little while you are quilting. Then if those things don't help, contact Janome and see what they would suggest.

Good luck,

Thanks. Cheryl. I will Lower the frame. I tried free-motion quilting with just the machine itelf (not on the Handi Quilter) and I found the same thing happened if the quilting foot is attached. Once I removed the quilting foot and just used the needle, everything was fine. I did a little quilting with just the machine, but now I wish to return to the Handi Quilter. I know that Laurel said in the demo to not put the batting arond the bars, but if I put it back on the batting is now attached to the quilt. Anyway, I hope it will work out.
