I am new to the Handiquilter, just got it 5 days ago, I really like it but when I use the laser light on pantographs, they look horrible. Anyone have any tips besides just practicing. The groovy boards are a piece of cake.
jkagrandma,
I am a new Handiquilter too. I have only used pantographs so far and really like them. I started out with a large stipple pattern. Even if I don't stay exactly on the lines it looks good on the quilt. It just takes practice and gets easier as you go. Start with something simple and owrk your way up to more intricate patterns. Good Luck!
I, too had trouble with pantos. Practice with your machine off and just follow the lines with your light. Keep your elbows closer to your body, don't go too slow, and remember to breathe. Also the pattern you are using might be too complicated for a first timer. If you go to willowleafstudios.com (I think) on line the patterns there are grouped into easy, intermediate, and advanced. It takes time and practice so don't give up. After a while you'll wonder what you were worried about. Also try practicing on a muslin and batting quilt sandwich. Why mess a quilt top. Good Luck.
Thankyou to both of you, I will keep trying, check the sites and remeber to breathe!!!
