Which model to get?

| I am new here and am confused about the various Handiquilter machines available. On the website, it looks like the machines are priced as a package with a frame. I have a Hinterberg frame which I can upgrade to the larger "stretch" frame. Can one purchase just the machine and not a frame? if so, do you know the price? Thanks so much for your help. Laura |

If you are looking for just the machine, check again under the products section, machines and packages, and you'll see a "Simply Sixteen"....I believe that's the machine only. Do check around for prices and promotions. HTH - marianne |

Thanks Marianne. I checked and the Simply Sixteen comes with the Portable Professional Frame for a MSRP of $4995. The stitch regulator MSRP is $1900. I don't seem to see a MSRP for the frame to get an idea how much of the package is frame price. Do many people in the group NOT have the stitch regulator, or is it a must have? Thanks so much. |

I bought the package, which included the frame (I have never taken the frame out of the box. I bought it at one of the special pricing, which made it cheaper with the frame than without). I use the HQ with SR on a Bline frame. Ann |

| I have the HQ Sixteen with the stitch regulator but I don't use the SR...it slows me down and is really loud if you're going too fast for it. If you have an option not to purchase it I wouldn't, especially not for $1900! and I have rear handlebars that I've never used, they came with the package. I like to see what my needle is doing. |

| I can't comment on the frame issue because I have the frame that came with my machine 1 1/2 years ago, I got my machine right after the SR came out and I love it. I don't use it all the time, but like to be able to keep my stitches uniform in size. |
