Wiring before my Fusion arrives

I'm finishing off an area of our basement for my new studio to hold my Fusion. I've never had a long-arm. My husband is about ready to put in some additional wiring.
~Do I need a regular 120V plug-in or something special for the Fusion? ~Will I want to plug the Fusion into a near the floor but in the wall outlet or into a ceiling outlet? (Am I going to be tripping over the cord somewhere?) Since I get to pick, my outlet and location.... what is your best recommendation? :) I'll probably order next month... so excited!! :) |

Yippee for you! Congrats on your soon to be Fusion.
You don't need special wiring, a regular home outlet is fine. If you can put it on a dedicated circuit, so much the better, and definitely plug it into a surge protector. I had questioned the same thing about ceiling or floor, but I actually think the floor is best. Because the machine needs at least 6' of cord to travel (based on where the outlet is) if you plug it in overhead, you'll need to take up the slack somehow. I'm pretty tall and didn't want the cord bopping me in the head. Mine plugs in near the baseboard off to one side. I don't have issues tripping over the cord or having problems with it. It's plugged on the pantograph side, which I don't use all that often, but when I do, I haven't had issues either. I just make sure the cord is loosely coiled on the floor and it is fine. I think it's actually better to have it plug in off to the right side of the pantograph rather than plugging it in behind the machine; that way you really can't trip over the cord because you work pantos from right to left, meaning the cord is always to your right & never in the way. Have fun! ebony [quote id="4818"]I'm finishing off an area of our basement for my new studio to hold my Fusion. I've never had a long-arm.
