zippered leaders

| I am interested in buying or making zippered leaders for my HQ16--any suggestions where or how to go about this? I'd like to have the option of removing one quilt and working on another, or easily putting on a practice piece. So I'd need zippers on both the top roller and the backing, as well as multiple leaders that would attach to assorted quilts and be zipped on or off of the ones that stay on the rollers. Does that make sense? If I had a source for the zippers I could sew them to the fabric leaders, I just don't know where to get them. |

baligirl You will find long zippers from Linda's Electric Quilters on the web. I made mine and find them to be very helpful when changing quilts. |

| I also made my own. For me it was easier to sit and pin my quilt then to stand, the jus t zip it on. I also marked the center of the leader and which way my quilt should face up or down. |

| I ordered mine from the original "inventer" longarmconnection.com I used pillow ticking for my leaders. I think they're great for just the reason you said - I keep one set on a practice piece. Also, if you zip a quilt off and put it back on again, it will line up exactly where it was before. I made a short leader, about 4" long, and sewed the quilt side of the zipper to that short leader. I find it easier to pin and unpin to the leader instead of just to the zipper. |
