I bought an APC UPS backup to go with my HQPro. The HQPro draws les than an amp when it is running so I sized it comfortably above minimum - the model is Back-UPS ES 550. Recently I was just getting into a row when the lights blinked. At that point, the HQ stopped stitching. I actually thought I ran out of thread. After checking the thread and backing up, I programmed it to continue and start stitching. It wouldn't stitch. No matter what I did to coax, it would simply start tracing the pattern w/o stitching. At that point it was late and I was tired so, I just shut down. The next day, I was able to reload the pattern and it worked fine. It seems to me that the problem is in the lag time before the UPS kicked in. Have you ever experienced something similar? Does anyone else have a UPS that allows them to stitch right through power blips?

Thanks,

Tm
I have had 2 similar problems with the pro-stiticher not stitiching, although I cannot attribute either to a power blib, at least not that I noticed (no blinking lights). It happened yesterday after I used the crop feature, and I though perhaps I had cropped off the starting point, and thus the computer was confused. It just sat there with the indicators lit up as if it was stitching, but the machine wasn't moving. Happened again just now (which is why I'm logged in here rather than sewing) after I used the new "point to point rotate" feature. Again, it won't move, but it seems to think it is. Worked fine in betweeen these 2 episodes, so I will likely turn it off/on again and start over to see if I can get it to go.
I have not had the problem again so, I'm sure it was because of the power blip and the UPS's inability to kick in quick enough. If anyone has a UPS that allows them to to sew right through a power outage I'd be interested in hearing about it. The HQ Pro doesn't take that much wattage to run so, ideally, you could get to the end of the patterna nd shut down gracefully during a full power outage.

Sorry for getting off topic but, what did you mean by "... used the crop feature". I've looked through the HQ Pro book a couple of times and don't recall that being on the machine itself. Could you elaborate? I just have to know about all the capabilities. It's like directing an orchestra, I can't let anyone sit by without getting them involved.
