Every now and then, I get a jack hammering or chattering like feeling from the machine. I'd say its more than a vibration. Usually when this happens, at this area of the quilt, the back tension is not as good as the rest of that row. The bottom thread is more visible and the stitch is not neat and pulled together.

Something else I experience occasionally is restarting after I run out of bobbin thread or within the row. My first inch or so of quilting has a much different stitch quality then after I get going again. I restart about 2 inches over the previously quilted area so when I come to where I ran out of bobbin, the stitch is more like the rest of the row. Then I pick out the double stitching and secure my threads.

My machine is 2 years old and was bought new from a dealer. I do pantos using the stitch regulator. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Sounds like you might need a tune up. It's better to check the noise now before it might become a big repair. In reference to the new bobbin, why not sew a bit on the extra backing and batting on the edge of the quilt sandwich? That should work.

The machine was back to HQ in June for a "routine" timing adjustment. It seems to have more get up and go when starting within a row, but the stitch quality in that first inch or so is not as good as the rest. Once the machine is running at speed, 10 seconds later, the stitches are nice and even. Its almost like it wants to stall. So I'm either ready to gun it and go, or let it warm up a moment before trying to move it. Still haven't figured out the right combo! I found it easier to just double stitch and pick out. I used to rip out the whole row and just start at the beginning of the row so I didn't have to deal with it.
