I live in Northeastern PA and would like to talk to HQ owners. I have owned an APQS and a Gammill in the past. But, am now looking at an HQ to do my own quilts. Feel free to email me at pennyspatches@frontiernet.net
Thanks

I'm in Western Maryland but would be interested why you are looking at the HQ16 After owning a a Gammill and a APQS.

Where are you in NE PA?? There is an HQ dealer out of Wyalusing, PA. She has 2 machines set up. She rents time on them after you take a 3 hr. lesson from her or you can just go and have a demo of the machine. Hope to get over there to get the 3 hr. lesson soon as I would love to be able to go there to quilt my quilt for Christmas (before the snow flies). If you are in the Scranton-WilkesBarre area she is about an hr. away. If you buy from her, they come and set the machine up for you. Her DH is the technician. Hope that helps.

Hi NinePatch

I live near King of Prussia PA, probably 1 to 2 hours away...humm why would you go from Gammil to HQ. A very good friend of mine swears by her Gammil. The more I use the HQ the better I am feeling, there have been many times I was ready to give it up, I don't have any support in my nearby area. I heard there is a dealer recently signed on near Doylestown now. I would be happy to talk you if you like.

I actually live near Allentown and just purchased an HQ. Was not at all impressed with the dealer I dealt with so I won't refer you to them. I had tested both the Gammill and HQ and for the price I went with the HQ. But hopefully will be upgrading to a Gammill soon.

I live in Bath and have a HQ16. I am thinking of changing to A-1 or Gammill. I was not impressed with my dealer either (probabably the same one you went to SueDavis!). The HQ was great to learn on but I'm thinking of a change come MQX in April.

wlhquilts, you wouldn't have purchased yours in the Pocono's did you?

SueDavis, yes I did. I was there a few weekends ago, wanted a demo on the Pro Stitcher but there wasn't anyone there to help demo it. Really kind of turns me off (again) from that store. you can email me direct at wendyquilts@hotmail.com
I'd like to add my 2 cents. 1st, it makes a big difference in the HQ rep you encounter. I had a disappointing demo with a local HQ rep and drove 6 hours to get my Pro Stitcher and 3 hours (3 yrs ago) to get my HQ 16. Both have been downright fabulous! HandiQuilter is very interested in being represented by real good reps, so please let them know how you feel.
2nd, my sister has 2 APQS Millies but loves my HQ w/Prostitcher. As you can tell, so do I. We both quilt professionally. Getting some education on the HQ & Prostitcher is a little tricky and pricey. I know it is worth it but can't afford the classes in Salt Lake City yet. I got 3 days (yes days!) from my rep when I bought the HQ, priceless! Wish I had the same with the Pro Stitcher. Anyway, I hope you are able to find a responsive and knowledgeable rep, maybe Handi Quilter has some advice for you. Connie
Good news...finally PA has a reputable dealer in New Britain PA, Called Byrne sewing. They are knowledgeable and very supportive. I hear you all I purchased mine 5 years ago in Princeton NJ...what a joke worst experience I ever had spending so much money, I must say Handi Quilter was great to me. Pocono was supposed to help, but to no avail...Byrne sewing has been working with me and has been good to me, finally had the machine serviced. They are somewhat new with the HQ but will help or get you to the right person.
We're HQ reps right in your neck of the woods, and we'd be happy to help you with any questions you have. We have the HQ16, Pro-Stitcher, and Avante 18 in the studio -- you can come and give them a test drive. Go to www.judequilts.com, take a peek and then give us a call or email judenow@epix.net
